Coke's Earnings Beat, But Analyst Sees Limited Upside Due to Valuation Concerns
Coca-Cola shares rose overnight after the company posted strong Q2 results, driven by higher sales, improved profitability, and stronger earnings. The beverage giant's organic revenue growth picked up in Q2, as higher pricing, favorable product combinations, and increased concentrate demand supported results.
Morningstar analyst Kristoffer Inton noted that Coca-Cola's operating margins expanded to 34.9%, a significant improvement from the prior-year period. The company also raised its outlook for future growth, expecting organic revenue to expand by 5% in 2026 and projects comparable earnings growth between 9% and 10%. However, management warned that conditions could become more challenging later in the year.
Morningstar remains positive about Coca-Cola's long-term prospects but sees limited upside due to valuation concerns. The analyst favors PepsiCo for stronger potential gains, citing the company's snack division and continued focus on affordable innovation.
