Coke's Healthiest Option: A Small Margin Between Zero and Diet

The US Health and Human Services Department plans to crack down on ultra-processed foods like soft drinks, which are considered one of the leading sources of added sugars in the American diet.

Classic Coke's sugary recipe can lead to dental decay and weight gain if consumed excessively. However, Coca-Cola offers several versions with reduced sugar content or artificial sweeteners.

Coke Zero Sugar, for instance, sidesteps the sugar problem of Classic Coke but contains aspartame, an artificial sweetener linked to some health issues. While Diet Coke has the same amount of aspartame, Coke Zero Sugar beats it since it has less caffeine and stevia, a natural sweetener.

The 'healthiest' Coke option is probably Coke Zero Sugar by a small margin, according to USA Today. However, it's essential to consume these sodas in moderation, as they offer zero essential nutrients and often displace healthier beverage options like water or unsweetened tea.
