Collector Hafidz Wins Shares His Treasured Merdeka Memories Through Vintage Items
Abdul Hafidz Win, a chartered accountant from Muar in Johor, has spent his life collecting items that catch his fancy. His impressive collection includes coins, stamps, teapots, and Coca-Cola merchandise.
One of his greatest passions is history, which led him to build an extensive collection of antiques and retro items from around the world. Within this collection are souvenirs and memorabilia commemorating Merdeka through the years, a subset that holds a special place in his heart.
Hafidz has always been drawn to items with a story behind them, so he's kept an eye out for anything connected to Malaysia's independence day. He initially kept his collection at home but eventually moved it to a dedicated display space in Bandar Tun Razak, where he rents out vintage items for events and film productions under the name Koleksi Malaya.
Among his most treasured items are those that relate to his family's history, including his grandmother's cooking utensils and wedding keepsakes. Hafidz views collecting as a hobby rather than an actual business, with 'Koleksi Malaya' being more of a stress management tool for him.
