Columbia County Welcomes Google Data Center Amid Concerns Over Community Impact

Google has announced its partnership with Columbia County in Georgia to build a massive data center. The project was discussed at the Future Forward Summit, an annual event hosted by the Columbia County Chamber of Commerce and the Economic Development Authority of Columbia County.

Columbia County leaders emphasized that the growth is planned and strategic, rather than haphazard. Heath Taylor, President of the Columbia County Chamber of Commerce, stated that the county wants to ensure businesses recognize the expansion efforts.

Jen Ryan, a Google representative, addressed concerns about noise, lighting, and water usage at the data center. She debunked a myth that data centers don't employ many people, citing hundreds of employees working at Google's Douglas County data center on any given day.
