Compton Man Sentenced for Assault on Officer During Immigration Raid

A Compton man was sentenced to three years in federal prison for throwing rocks and injuring a federal officer during an immigration enforcement operation.

Elpidio Reyna, 42, pleaded guilty on February 17 to assaulting the officer with a deadly or dangerous weapon resulting in bodily injury.

The incident occurred on June 7, 2025, near a Home Depot store in Paramount. Reyna lit objects on fire and threw rocks at law enforcement vehicles occupied by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers.

A rock thrown by Reyna shattered glass and cut an officer's forehead, according to his plea agreement.
