Congressman Michael Rulli Trades Microsoft for Goldman Sachs Before Earnings
Rep. Michael Rulli (R-Ohio) has caught the attention of retail investors with his recent stock transactions. According to disclosures on the Benzinga Government Trades page, Rulli sold shares of Microsoft and Wells Fargo in September, while purchasing shares of Goldman Sachs. The timing of these trades is noteworthy, as both Goldman Sachs and Wells Fargo are set to report their quarterly financial results on October 13.
Analysts expect Goldman Sachs to report earnings per share of $14.31, up from $12.25 year-over-year. The company has a strong track record of beating earnings estimates, having done so in six straight quarters. Revenue is projected to reach $16.98 billion, up from $15.18 billion in the same period last year. Goldman Sachs shares are down 1.9% year-to-date in 2026, making Rulli’s purchase particularly intriguing.
Rulli’s trading history is relatively limited, with 38 trades worth around $371,000, according to data from Quiver Quantitative. However, he has previously been flagged for violating the STOCK Act by reporting some trades years after they were made. Despite this, Rulli took office in 2024 and has a net worth of $27 million.
