Connecticut Residents Prefer Canada Dry Over Major Cola Brands
A recent study from Kitchn analyzed Instacart shopping data to determine the most popular sodas in each state, and Connecticut's results were a surprise.
The study found that Canada Dry Ginger Ale is the favorite soda of Connecticut residents, not Coca-Cola or Pepsi. In fact, the Northeast region as a whole seems to prefer ginger ale, with several other states, including New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Maine, also favoring Canada Dry.
This trend stands in contrast to Dr. Pepper, which dominates much of the country, particularly in the South and West. Coca-Cola's traditional brand only takes the top spot in three states: Florida, Georgia, and Louisiana. Diet Coke is more popular, coming in first in Massachusetts, Illinois, Utah, and Washington.
Pepsi has a smaller footprint, ranking first in just Delaware, while its diet version tops the list in Iowa and Oregon. In other parts of the Northeast, New York prefers Schweppes Ginger Ale, and Michigan goes for Vernors.
