Cramer Flips on Bitcoin, Now Urges Investors to Buy Amid Surge
Jim Cramer has made a surprising U-turn on Bitcoin (BTC-USD), advising investors to buy the cryptocurrency after previously announcing plans to sell it. This reversal comes just weeks after Cramer expressed doubts about Bitcoin's long-term security prospects following a conversation with IBM CEO Arvind Krishna.
Krishna warned Cramer that advances in quantum computing could potentially break the cryptographic functions securing Bitcoin holdings within three or four years. This warning seemed to shake Cramer's confidence, and he announced his intention to sell his Bitcoin position shortly after their conversation.
However, it appears this decision was short-lived. As Bitcoin's price surpassed $79,000 on August 21 amidst a broader cryptocurrency market rally, Cramer has since reversed course and is recommending that investors buy BTC rather than avoid it.
