Crusoe Builds Google AI Data Center Campus Powered by Texas Wind Farms

Google's AI data center campus in Armstrong County, Texas is taking shape with Crusoe as its developer. The project has broken ground and construction is underway at 10001 Lima Road in Claude, Texas. According to records from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, the development will consist of multiple buildings ranging from approximately 485,000 square feet to 805,000 square feet.

The campus will be powered by adjacent wind generation, specifically Serena's Goodnight 1 and Goodnight 2 wind farms. These projects represent a combined capacity of 531 MW of renewable energy. The arrangement allows for the power generated by the wind projects to serve the data center while surplus generation can flow back to the grid when demand is lower.

Crusoe is designing the campus with a closed-loop cooling system, which will limit the site's water footprint. This approach is particularly relevant as AI data centers deploy higher-density computing equipment that requires more advanced thermal management.
