Crusoe Powers Google's Texas Data Center with Abundant Renewable Energy
Crusoe has announced that it is developing Google's data center campus in Armstrong County, Texas, a project aimed at powering advanced AI. The site will use abundant low-cost energy and feature a direct connection to two adjacent wind farms, Goodnight 1 and Goodnight 2. Construction broke ground in June 2025 and is expected to bring significant investment and employment to the local community.
The campus will utilize a closed-loop, non-evaporative liquid cooling system, which Crusoe claims will limit its water footprint. The company's strategy is to build AI factories near abundant energy sources, improving existing asset utilization while driving new energy generation. This approach, known as the 'across-the-meter' model, captures power that would otherwise be curtailed or stranded.
According to Crusoe, co-locating load gives renewable developers a market-driven incentive to repower and upgrade aging turbines. The company's growing West Texas portfolio further solidifies the region's importance in American digital infrastructure.
