Crypto Card Payments Surge to Record $12.5 Billion
Crypto card payments have surged to a record $12.5 billion, marking a 140% increase since the start of the year and a 247% jump from October 2025, according to data from paymentscan.xyz. This growth is driven by a rise in stablecoin usage and a shift toward faster, cheaper cross-border transactions. The adoption of QR-code checkouts has also contributed to the expansion, with Jupiter Spend reporting a 55% quarter-over-quarter increase in activated cards.
Fold Holdings has begun issuing its Visa credit card, which offers bitcoin rewards. The card, available to waitlisted users first, provides a base reward of 1.5% in bitcoin, with potential boosts up to 4% through partner deals and additional activity. Aven, meanwhile, has introduced a Visa card that allows users to borrow up to $1 million against their bitcoin collateral, with rates starting at 7.99% APR and repayment terms extending up to 10 years.
The growth in crypto card payments highlights the increasing integration of digital assets into everyday financial transactions. As The Kobeissi Letter noted, 'Crypto cards are the next phase of crypto adoption.' This trend underscores the evolving landscape of financial technology and the growing acceptance of cryptocurrencies in mainstream commerce.
