Cypress Creek Energizes Ostrea Solar Project for Microsoft
Cypress Creek Energy has completed its Ostrea solar project in Yakima County, Washington, as part of a power purchase agreement with tech giant Microsoft. The 104 MWdc project will add renewable energy to the regional grid and support Washington state's growing economy.
The $180 million privately-funded project includes long-term land stewardship initiatives that conserve critical ecological habitats and support wildlife migration paths. This approach is in line with Cypress Creek's goal of preserving the land for agriculture or other uses after the project has completed its lifespan.
Ostrea connects to the Bonneville Power Administration transmission system, and Microsoft will be the long-term off-taker of energy and environmental products from the project. The company aims to own the project for up to 40 years, during which they have agreed to land management and environmental stewardship.
