D'Amaro Outlines Vision for Disneyland: Perfection and Fan Experience
Disney CEO Josh D'Amaro outlined his vision for Disneyland during a recent media briefing at the Anaheim Convention Center. He emphasized the importance of attention to detail and striving for perfection in creating an exceptional fan experience.
D'Amaro, who took over as Disney CEO in March after serving as Disneyland Resort President, recalled his first meeting with the company in 1998, where he was involved in a debate about the placement of trash cans on Main Street USA. He noted that what struck him at the time was 'the level of detail, the level of excellence, the level of concern for that fan experience.'
D'Amaro also touched on the balance between classic and new theme park attractions, stating that Disney will 'always push on that balance' while respecting legacy and taking audacious steps into the future. He highlighted the rigorous process Walt Disney Imagineering goes through when designing new theme parks, lands, and rides, admitting that many concepts are scrapped because they're not good enough.
The CEO also discussed Disney's foray into video games as a way to ensure the next generation of fans falls in love with Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars characters and storytelling. He revealed his personal preference for sneaking into Disneyland to get an unscripted assessment of how the park operates and hear from fans and employees.
