Dangote Chooses Honeywell for Kenya's $16-Billion Mega-Refinery
Nigerian billionaire Aliko Dangote has chosen Honeywell Technologies to provide engineering services, licensing, and equipment for his planned $16-billion refinery in Kenya's Lamu county.
The new refinery will have a capacity of 700,000 barrels per day and is expected to supply diesel, petrol, and jet fuel to Kenya, with some products also being exported to neighboring countries.
This project marks the expansion of Dangote's existing partnership with Honeywell Technologies, which has previously collaborated on upgrading his Nigerian refinery to double its capacity to 1.4 million barrels per day.
Honeywell Technologies UOP president Rajesh Gattupalli stated that their engineering designs can significantly reduce time-to-market for the Kenya refinery project.
