Debi Derryberry Returns for Reimagined Carousel of Progress
During a recent D23 event, new details about the upcoming reimagined Carousel of Progress at Walt Disney World were revealed, including a returning voice actor in a new role. Debi Derryberry, known for voicing Patricia in the previous version, will now play the Grandmother in the updated attraction. Derryberry is also recognized for her role as Jimmy Neutron in the popular TV series and film.
The announcement came during the "55 Magical Years of Storytelling" event, held just days after the 55th anniversary of Walt Disney World. Other cast members previously announced for the attraction include Bryan Cranston and Jamie Lee Curtis. The event also shared that the pumpkin head will appear in the new version, fitting with Act II set in 1985 on Halloween night.
Additional updates included the reveal of an Audio-Animatronic toucan interacting with Walt Disney during the opening scene, inspired by the Disneyland Goes to the World’s Fair special. The event also showcased props and costumes from past and upcoming versions of the attraction, providing fans with a glimpse into the reimagined experience.
