Dell Technologies Rides AI Wave with Record-Breaking Orders
Dell Technologies is experiencing significant growth in its AI clientele, with over 6,500 customers purchasing DELL AI Factory as of the second quarter of fiscal 2027. This represents a substantial increase from three years ago, when there were fewer than 3,300 such customers.
The company's expanding customer base spans multiple client groups, including Neoclouds, sovereign customers, and enterprises. Dell is diversifying its AI exposure by serving these various types of customers, which is expected to drive growth in the long term.
AI adoption is driving demand for traditional servers, networking, and storage as companies modernize their infrastructure to support increasingly distributed workloads. As a result, Dell has reported record-breaking $60.9 billion in AI-server orders and generated $16.4 billion in AI-server revenues in the second quarter of fiscal 2027.
Looking ahead, Dell expects enterprise agentic AI to become the dominant workload by 2028, with AI driving 75% of data-center demand by 2030. The company estimates that about half of this opportunity falls within its core customer base, implying an addressable market of more than $1 trillion.
Dell faces stiff competition from companies like Super Micro Computer and Cisco Systems, which are also expanding their AI customer bases and offering a range of products and services to support AI adoption. To stay ahead in the competitive landscape, Dell is focusing on its engineering, deployment, and global supply-chain capabilities to provide optimized performance, power, cooling, and data-center requirements for its customers.
