Delta Flight Descends Rapidly After Pressurization Issue

A Delta Air Lines flight made an emergency landing in Las Vegas after experiencing an unexpected pressurization issue, forcing it to rapidly descend from 36,200 feet to 9,000 feet in just 10 minutes.

The Boeing 737-900 was about halfway between Los Angeles and Salt Lake City when the issue arose on September 6. Air traffic control obtained a recording of the incident, which showed the pilot announcing the rapid descent and deploying oxygen masks.

'Delta 2311 currently rapid descent. We'd like to get down to 9,000 and we're direct Las Vegas,' the pilot said in the recording. The airline confirmed that all passengers deplaned normally in Las Vegas and were rebooked on another aircraft to continue their journey.
