Delta Flight Makes Emergency Turn After Pilot's Medical Crisis

A medical emergency aboard a Delta Air Lines flight on August 31 led to an unexpected U-turn. The Boeing 757-300, operating as DL1208 from Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport (MSP) to Orlando International Airport (MCO), was climbing to 7,000 feet when the crew reported that the first officer might be incapacitated.

The captain informed air traffic control of the situation and declared a medical emergency. The aircraft made a wide turn south of the airport before approaching for a landing on Runway 30L. All 178 passengers and seven crew members disembarked safely, with emergency personnel standing by.

The flight had already experienced a significant delay before the medical emergency disrupted the journey further. After landing back at Minneapolis, Delta arranged a replacement crew member so passengers could continue their journey to Orlando. The aircraft later resumed its journey and reached Orlando after the crew change.
