Delta SkyMiles Cuts Statement Credit Benefit for Top-Tier Members
The recent changes to Delta Air Lines' SkyMiles loyalty program have been met with criticism from its top-tier Diamond Medallion members. One of the major changes is the reduction in value of the American Express statement credit benefit, which has been cut from $700 to $500 for Diamond Medallion members.
However, Delta has also introduced new benefits for Platinum and Diamond Medallion members, including the ability to gift status to more friends or relatives and an increase in bonus miles. The travel voucher benefit has also been increased to $350 and $550 respectively.
The changes are part of a broader trend in the airline industry, where loyalty programs have become profit centers for carriers. Delta's SkyMiles program is valued at $31.7 billion and generates more revenue than ticket sales.
