Diageo Hires P&G Veteran to Lead Asia-Pacific Operations
Diageo, the FTSE-100 alcoholic drinks company behind brands like Guinness and Johnnie Walker, has made a key appointment ahead of its turnaround plan. Sujay Wasan, who spent nearly 30 years at Procter & Gamble (P&G), will join Diageo as head of Asia-Pacific operations, replacing John O'Keeffe.
The move is part of a major shake-up at the company, which has seen it oust its previous boss and implement cost-cutting measures. Sir Dave Lewis, who joined Diageo last year, orchestrated Wasan's appointment and will present his first strategy update for the group on Thursday.
Diageo's Asia-Pacific operations account for around 20% of the company's global revenues. Wasan's role is seen as a crucial one in driving growth at the company, which has been struggling with poor performance.
