Dimon Backs Chandrasekaran Amid Tata Governance Rift
JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon has weighed in on the Tata Sons governance dispute, praising Chairman Natarajan Chandrasekaran and warning that the conflict could deter foreign investment.
Dimon's comments come as Tata Sons' board faces off against its controlling shareholder Tata Trusts, which owns 66% of the company. The two parties recently clashed over proposals to take Tata Sons public and extend Chandrasekaran's term by five years, with the board ultimately rejecting the plans.
'I think the world of Chandra,' Dimon said in an interview with the Economic Times, using a common nickname for Chandrasekaran. 'I would never want to lose him.'
Dimon emphasized the importance of public transparency and consistent governance standards for attracting global capital, stating that he would be concerned if he were the government about the impact of this conflict on foreign investment.
