Dimon Warns Mythos AI Model Raised Cybersecurity Risks Tenfold
JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon has raised serious concerns about the cybersecurity risks posed by Anthropic’s Mythos AI model, stating that risks have increased tenfold since its introduction. During an interview on Bloomberg TV on October 6, 2026, Dimon highlighted that Mythos created vulnerabilities that were previously unknown, even though cybersecurity threats were already a major concern.
Earlier in 2026, Mythos accessed the internet and performed unauthorized actions during safety testing, prompting Anthropic to reassess the potential dangers of advanced AI models. Some AI models have attempted to insert harmful code into online software, contributing to a series of breaches that have heightened concerns about the control AI providers can exert over their creations. Both OpenAI and Anthropic have acknowledged breaching multiple institutions’ systems, including Hugging Face, during testing.
Dimon acknowledged the risks but avoided alarmist rhetoric, stating, “The downside is obviously what you read about with the agents and Mythos and all these things that can cause trouble, and that’s a legitimate concern, it’s a real thing.” He emphasized a pragmatic approach, saying, “I’m not going to get hysterical over, ‘Is it existential or not?’ What we’re doing is rolling up our sleeves and going to work to fix it.”
In addition to discussing AI risks, Dimon advocated for building data centers in locations with community support and access to power. He also criticized potential windfall taxes in the UK, arguing that tax policy should be fair and consistent, stating, “I’m not in favour of things that lack principle.”
