Disappointment in First Class: Air India's Boeing 777-300ER Falls Short
Air India's Boeing 777-300ER first class on the DEL-FRA route was underwhelming for one passenger, who redeemed Air Canada Aeroplan points for a ticket that cost $53 in taxes and fees. The flight began with a positive note, as the passenger enjoyed the new Maharaja Lounge Delhi's first class section, which they ranked among the best in the world.
The passenger noted that despite being escorted every step of the way, there was no effort put into the first class soft product. This is particularly striking given Air India's revamped business class, which outshines first class on this route. The passenger hypothesized that this might be due to first class not being a profitable cabin for the airline.
The flight itself featured an outdated seat back entertainment system and no Wi-Fi. However, individual air nozzles in each seat made getting some rest easier. Despite these drawbacks, the passenger appreciated the ability to assign seats together in the center section, which is a rare feature in newer first class products.
