Take-Two Sues Leaker with Help from Microsoft and Discord
Take-Two Interactive is taking aggressive action against a leaker who has been posting footage of Grand Theft Auto 6 online. The publisher has filed legal requests to Microsoft and Discord, asking them to hand over account data that could help identify the individual behind the leaks.
The leaker, known as Cyberleek, has been posting what appears to be recent and functional gameplay from GTA 6 across multiple platforms. Take-Two believes the leaker has a traceable digital footprint on these platforms, which is why they're targeting Microsoft and Discord in their investigation.
The leaks have already taken some of the excitement out of Rockstar's upcoming promotional event, where an extended look at GTA 6 was set to premiere on Netflix. The publisher had paid for exclusivity rights, but the leaked footage has been circulating online for days, with new clips appearing daily.
Take-Two has a history of aggressively pursuing leakers through the courts, as seen in their case against Arion Kurtaj in 2022. This time around, they're casting a wide net to gather any identifying information available, even if it means going after platforms that may not be directly involved.
