Disney acquires former Yamaha headquarters in California for $115 million
The Walt Disney Company has acquired the former Yamaha Motor Corp. U.S. headquarters in Cypress, California, for approximately $115.3 million. The sale, finalized on September 23, was announced by commercial real estate brokerage Avison Young on October 2, though the buyer’s identity was not initially disclosed.
The 25-acre property at 6555 Katella Ave., which includes office, industrial, and warehouse buildings, will be used by Disney for “back-of-house operations,” according to the company. The site is located less than seven miles from the Disneyland Resort.
Yamaha, which has occupied the Orange County campus since 1979, is relocating its corporate headquarters to Georgia. The company plans to begin vacating the Cypress property by the end of 2026 and complete its departure by 2028 as part of a broader shift in its U.S. operations.
The sale marks another step in Yamaha’s transition away from its long-time Southern California headquarters. For Disney, the purchase provides control over a significant commercial property in Orange County, though details on whether any existing Yamaha facilities will be retained or redeveloped remain unclear.
