Disney Acquires Yamaha's Former California HQ for $115 Million
The Walt Disney Company has acquired Yamaha Motor Corp.'s former Southern California headquarters for approximately $115 million. The transaction, which closed on September 23, involves a 25-acre property in Cypress, California. The site includes about 279,000 square feet of warehouse, flex, and office space. Disney plans to use the property for non-guest-facing operations, supporting its long-term business needs.
Disney's purchase follows Yamaha Motor's decision to relocate its U.S. headquarters from California to Georgia. Yamaha announced the move earlier this year, citing efforts to improve asset efficiency and profitability amid rising costs from U.S. tariffs and market changes. The company will lease back the Cypress property until December 31, 2028, to ensure business continuity during the transition.
Yamaha has occupied the Cypress site for nearly 50 years, establishing its office there in 1979. The company already has a significant presence in Georgia, with over 2,300 employees in the state. Georgia Governor Brian Kemp welcomed the relocation, highlighting the state's business-friendly environment.
Disney has not yet provided additional comments on the acquisition. The property is located near Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California.
