Disney Adds Solar-Powered Trash Cans to Animal Kingdom

Walt Disney World has been adding solar-powered trash cans to its properties since early June. The latest installation can be found at Disney's Animal Kingdom in the Maharajah Jungle Trek area. Two pairs of green solar trash cans and recycling bins are along the walkway, featuring a red triangle logo with a tiger in the center and clouds in the corners.

The solar panels power a built-in trash compactor that can be opened by hand or with a foot pedal. However, some guests have found it confusing to operate, prompting Disney to release an instructional video. Walt Disney Imagineering is involved in the design process to ensure the new cans blend in with existing ones.
