Disney Adventure Cruise Ship Debuts in Asia with Marvel Themes and Roller Coaster
Incoming Disney CEO Josh D'Amaro recently shared an inside look at the new Disney Adventure cruise ship during an appearance on "Good Morning America." The vessel, the eighth and largest in the Disney Cruise Line fleet, is the company's first ship based in Asia. D'Amaro emphasized the global appeal of Disney's stories, noting that the ship's design ensures it remains authentic to the brand's values while catering to new markets.
The Disney Adventure features popular characters and themes from "Toy Story," "Moana," and the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Among its standout attractions are a Marvel-themed roller coaster and a three-story castle, both located in the ship's inner courtyard called the "Imagination Garden." D'Amaro highlighted the San Fransokyo-themed area inspired by "Big Hero 6" as one of his favorite spaces on the ship.
The cruise ship was christened on Tuesday, with actor Robert Downey Jr. serving as its godparent. The 1,122-foot vessel is divided into seven themed areas and offers rotational dining options, including the Hollywood Spotlight Club. Its maiden voyage is scheduled for March 10, departing from Singapore, with itineraries ranging from three to four nights. Approximately 6,700 passengers are expected to embark on these journeys.
D'Amaro's preview of the Disney Adventure coincides with his upcoming transition to CEO of The Walt Disney Company, replacing Bob Iger. Reflecting on his career, D'Amaro noted his previous work in Hong Kong and his deep appreciation for Asia. He expressed excitement about leading Disney into a new era of innovation and customer experiences.
