Disney Agrees to $50 Million Settlement with YouTube TV and DirecTV Stream Subscribers
The Walt Disney Company has agreed to settle a $50 million lawsuit with YouTube TV and DirecTV Stream subscribers over allegations of price manipulation. The deadline for filing claims is September 8, 2026.
The lawsuit, filed in 2022 by YouTube TV subscribers, claimed that Disney's agreements with streaming providers gave the company significant leverage over pricing, limiting competitors' ability to offer lower-cost alternatives and contributing to higher prices for consumers.
Eligible individuals who paid for YouTube TV or DirecTV Stream from April 1, 2019, to March 31, 2026, can submit claims online or by mail. The amount each claimant will receive has not been determined, but payments would be distributed after a final approval hearing on January 14, 2027.
