Disney and Make-A-Wish Grant 1000 Wishes with Magical Experiences
Disney and Make-A-Wish UK have celebrated a significant milestone by granting 1,000 wishes through the "A Disney Wish" program. This initiative aims to bring the magic of Disney to seriously ill children and their families who face challenges in traveling to Disney parks. Over the past six years, "A Disney Wish" has created accessible Disney experiences tailored to the medical, physical, and sensory needs of wish children.
In the UK, nearly 200 families enjoyed an unforgettable experience at Dorking’s Wotton House, transformed into an enchanted manor. The event featured magical moments inspired by Disney, Pixar, and Marvel, including a "Frozen" singalong, story time with Belle, and Marvel Super Hero training. Special guests like Hannah Waddingham, Sian Welby, and Giovanna Fletcher added to the festivities, with accessibility remaining a priority through live shows signed in Makaton and a sensory room.
In Ireland, 30 families experienced a unique weekend aboard the Disney Dream cruise ship docked in Cork. The day included a welcome celebration with Joy and Sadness from "Inside Out," a brunch with Disney Princesses, and a silent disco with Mickey Mouse. Each child received keepsakes, and Tyler’s dad shared the emotional impact of the day, highlighting the joy and uplifting moments it provided for his family.
Deborah Armstrong, Country Manager for The Walt Disney Company UK and Ireland, expressed pride in the 1,000th wish granted through the program. She emphasized the personal nature of each wish and the collaborative effort with Make-A-Wish UK to create lasting memories for children facing critical illnesses. Disney and Make-A-Wish have granted over 175,000 wishes worldwide, continuing their long-standing partnership.
