Disney and Netflix Strike Limited-Window Content Deal Starting October 2026
Disney Entertainment and Netflix have finalized a significant content licensing agreement that will bring select Disney titles to Netflix for limited periods. The deal kicks off on October 4, 2026, with the addition of Percy Jackson and the Olympians Seasons 1-2 and all five Ice Age films. These titles will be available globally on Netflix for about three months, providing a promotional boost ahead of new releases like Percy Jackson Season 3 on Disney+ and the theatrical release of Ice Age: Boiling Point in February 2027.
This agreement is not a full migration of Disney content to Netflix. Instead, it allows Disney to monetize and promote select titles while keeping most exclusives on its own platforms. Other titles slated for Netflix in late 2026 and early 2027 include Felicity, Will Trent, Shifting Gears, and Tracker, along with a selection of Disney Animation and Pixar films. Existing Disney+ and Hulu subscribers will still have access to these titles during the Netflix windows.
For viewers relying on live-TV services like DIRECTV, the deal does not change the availability of network TV. Shows like Will Trent and Tracker will continue to air on ABC and CBS, with Netflix serving as an additional catch-up option. Disney+ remains essential for new seasons and exclusives, as Netflix’s offerings are primarily promotional in nature.
Disney has emphasized that this is a curated selection, not a full library transfer. The limited windows on Netflix are designed to drive interest in upcoming releases without displacing Disney’s core content strategy. Viewers looking to maximize their streaming options may need to maintain subscriptions to both Netflix and Disney+ to access all available content.
