Disney Announces New Wave of Layoffs Amid Restructuring Efforts
The Walt Disney Company has announced another round of layoffs, impacting hundreds of employees working in tech and HR. This move is part of Disney CEO Josh D'Amaro's efforts to cut costs and restructure the company.
The layoffs come just days after warnings from Disney executives about impending restructuring measures. In a recent message, Chief Legal and Global Affairs Officer Horacio Gutierrez hinted at the possibility of layoffs, stating that his division would be 'a much smaller organization.'
This is the third wave of layoffs to hit Disney in the past year, with the previous two rounds affecting hundreds more employees. The company has also implemented an early retirement program for select executives and appointed a Chief Technology Officer, Karandeep Anand, to oversee the use of AI in the company.
