Disney+ Announces Slate of New Releases for 2027
Disney's streaming service Disney+ has announced several new releases for 2027. One of the most anticipated shows is Ahsoka Season 2, which will premiere on January 20, 2027, four years after its first season. This news comes alongside the confirmation of two other Star Wars series: Maul, Shadow Lord Season 2 and a prequel series set in the Imperial Era.
The Shadow Collective leader's story will continue with the second season of Maul, Shadow Lord, although no specific release date has been confirmed yet. The first season was well-received by fans, and its success led to the greenlighting of a second season even before it premiered in April. The show is set to return in 2027, but an exact date remains unknown.
Other Disney+ releases for 2027 include Jon Favreau's three-part Oswald miniseries, which will be available in February 2027. This project has been a long time coming, as Walt Disney lost the rights to Oswald the Lucky Rabbit in 1928 and only reacquired them in 2006.
