Disney Beats Travel Slump with Family-Friendly Offers
Despite slowing global travel demand, Disney's parks and cruise business have posted their fastest growth in two years. The company's revenue rose by 10% year over year in the latest quarter.
This success can be attributed to a combination of targeted discounts, offers for families with young children, updated attractions, and improvements to the Lightning Lane service. Disney sought to sustain interest in vacations at a time when travelers are planning their spending more carefully.
The company offered one-day Park Hopper tickets for children ages 3 to 9 at Disneyland Resort for $50 instead of the usual $168-279, as well as a free dining plan for a child ages 3 to 9 in Florida with the purchase of an adult dining plan. Stays at budget Walt Disney World hotels were also available starting at $99 per night for Disney+ subscribers.
Beci Mahnken attributed Disney's success to their ability to add value and give consumers more choice without compromising the experience. 'I think Disney is starting to get a better feel for people's attitudes,' she said.
