Disney Believe Cruise Ship Hits Construction Milestone
Construction on the Disney Believe, the next ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet, has reached a significant milestone with the completion of its keel laying ceremony. This maritime tradition, dating back to ancient Greece and Rome, involves placing a specially crafted coin under the ship’s keel for good luck. For the Disney Believe, the coin features Tinker Bell, whose image will also appear on the ship’s bow, adding a touch of Disney magic to the ceremony.
The keel laying follows the float-out of the ship’s first gigablock from the Meyer Werft Shipyard in mid-September. Work is now underway on the second gigablock, marking steady progress in the ship’s construction. Disney Cruise Line will reveal more details about the Disney Believe during a livestream on Wednesday, October 7, at 4:30 p.m. ET.
Previously revealed details include the ship’s stern image featuring Woody and Buzz, the bow image of Tinker Bell, and a Grand Hall statue of Moana. The ship will also incorporate elements inspired by Frozen, Encanto, and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Fans are eagerly awaiting announcements about the ship’s lounges, the AquaMouse slide, and live entertainment options during the upcoming livestream.
The Disney Believe is the fourth ship in the Wish class, and its design and features are expected to build on the successes of its predecessors. Stay tuned for more updates as construction continues and additional details are shared.
