Disney Believe Cruise Ship Hits Construction Milestone with Keel-Laying Ceremony
The Disney Believe, Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship, has reached a key milestone in its construction with the completion of the keel-laying ceremony. The event took place on September 29, 2026, at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany. This ceremony marks a significant stage in the shipbuilding process, where a specially crafted coin is placed beneath the ship’s keel to bring good fortune.
Disney added its own twist to the tradition by featuring Tinker Bell on the commemorative coin, which will also appear in the artwork adorning the bow of the finished ship. Construction of the Disney Believe is progressing well, with work currently underway on the ship’s second gigablock following the float-out of the first gigablock in mid-September. The ship is expected to debut in late 2027.
The Disney Believe will introduce new entertainment and venues inspired by popular Disney stories, including Encanto, Frozen, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Moana, and The Little Mermaid. More details about these experiences are set to be revealed soon, with a special presentation scheduled for October 7, 2026.
