Disney Believe Gigablock Completed, First Construction Milestone Reached
The Disney Believe, the newest addition to the Disney Cruise Line fleet, has reached its first major construction milestone at the Meyer Werft Shipyard in Papenburg, Germany. The ship's first gigablock, weighing over 31,000 tons, was recently completed and floated out of the shipyard.
A gigablock is essentially a massive section of the ship that contains walls, plumbing, and wiring already in place. These sections are built separately and then welded together like puzzle pieces to complete the vessel.
The Disney Believe will set sail in late 2027, featuring brand new venues and entertainment experiences inspired by some of Disney's most beloved stories, including Encanto, Frozen, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Moana, and The Little Mermaid.
Disney has launched a Ship's Log on the Disney Parks Blog, inviting fans to follow along as the Disney Believe comes to life. This will include virtual looks inside the building dock at Meyer Werft, peeks at the sketchpads of Disney artists, behind-the-scenes moments from rehearsals for Broadway-style stage shows, and more.
