Disney Believe Ship Reaches Construction Milestone with Keel-Laying Ceremony
The Disney Cruise Line has unveiled the first gigablock of its upcoming ship, the Disney Believe, which is under construction at the Meyer Werft Shipyard in Papenburg, Germany. The vessel is set to join the fleet in late 2027 and will feature themes inspired by beloved Disney stories such as Encanto, Frozen, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Moana, and The Little Mermaid. The ship will offer Broadway-style entertainment, immersive dining, and a host of magical experiences for guests.
Ahead of a detailed announcement later today, Disney revealed that the Disney Believe has reached a significant milestone with the keel-laying ceremony, a maritime tradition dating back to ancient Greece and Rome. This ceremony involves placing a specially crafted coin under the ship’s keel to bring good fortune. For the Disney Believe, a custom-minted coin featuring Tinker Bell was used, mirroring the artwork that will adorn the ship’s bow.
Disney described Tinker Bell’s image as a symbol to "imbue the ship with a sprinkle of faith, trust, and pixie dust," aiming to inspire guests to believe in the realization of their dreams. More details about the ship will be shared during a special livestream event later today, which will be covered by Daps Magic.
