Disney Brings Kingdom Hearts to Anime with New Series
Kingdom Hearts is getting an anime spinoff series on Disney Channel and Disney+, expanding its reach beyond video games. The new series, titled Kingdom Hearts: The Series, will be a brand-new story that builds upon the universe of Kingdom Hearts, according to Disney.
Creator Tetsuya Nomura and studio Square Enix are working together with Disney to bring this new anime series to life. Given its connection to Disney+, it's likely that the series will continue to blend Disney stories with Sora's narrative, potentially introducing new characters from various Disney franchises.
This isn't the first time Kingdom Hearts has expanded beyond games; it already has a manga series, light novels, and a card game. However, an anime series marks a significant step into the mainstream Disney audience on streaming platforms.
