Disney Brings Library Titles to Netflix in $Millions Deal
Disney and Netflix have entered into an expansive content licensing agreement that will bring Disney's library titles and current-season TV shows to the streaming giant. The deal includes a range of popular titles, including the 'Ice Age' movies, 'Percy Jackson and the Olympians,' and TV shows like 'Will Trent' and 'Felicity.'
The agreement is seen as a win-win for both companies, with Disney gaining exposure to Netflix's massive customer base of over 325 million subscribers. Netflix will also benefit from adding more content offerings to its platform.
The deal includes a selection of non-franchised Disney-branded films from Walt Disney Animation Studios and Pixar, which will be available on Netflix globally in early 2027. Additionally, some TV shows will have separate promotional windows on Netflix before their release on Disney+ or other platforms.
The licensing agreement does not deviate from Disney's general strategy of keeping its titles largely exclusive to its own platforms and TV channels. Titles that are currently available on Disney+ or Hulu will continue to be available, while new content is added to both platforms.
