Downtown Greenville, Ohio, became the happiest place in Darke County on July 10, 1999, when Disney's Hometown Parade rolled into town. Thousands of residents and visitors lined South Broadway to witness the colorful floats and beloved characters wave from atop them.

The parade was a nationally sponsored traveling show that brought the magic of Disney to selected communities across America. For many children, it was their first opportunity to see Disney characters in person without having to travel to Florida or California.

Community leaders considered the parade a tremendous honor as Disney selected only a limited number of communities nationwide to host the traveling production. Greenville's selection made it a point of pride for local residents.
