Boeing Sends Contract Offer to Engineers Union Amid Certification Concerns
Boeing has sent a contract offer to its engineers union, covering around 17,000 employees in its commercial airplane division. The Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace's negotiating team endorsed the deal, citing 'real and meaningful value' for members.
The proposed contract includes improvements to work-life balance and addresses key priorities for the union. However, no details of the offer have been made public yet. Union officials will review the terms and make a recommendation to members next week.
The current SPEEA contract expires on October 6. A strike could further delay certification campaigns for Boeing's 737 MAX 10 and the 777-9, which are already behind schedule due to engineering-intensive work. This is the third major union contract negotiation in as many years for Boeing.
