Disney Brings Monstropolis to Life with Two New Themed Restaurants
Disney’s Hollywood Studios is preparing to welcome guests into the vibrant world of Monstropolis from the beloved films Monsters, Inc. and Monsters University. Opening in 2027, this new land will feature two unique dining experiences: Harryhausen’s, a table-service restaurant with an Audio-Animatronic sushi chef, and Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza, a quick-service spot inspired by Monsters University. The culinary team faced the creative challenge of designing menus that feel authentic to monsters while remaining appealing to humans, leading to playful, monster-inspired twists on familiar dishes.
Chef Brian Piasecki and Beverage Director Evan Rosenthal led the effort to create what they call “grossly fun” food, think ramen bowls with eyeball-shaped fishcakes and Blort, a purple frozen soda with Scream Apple Foam. The team studied the films to ensure the dining experiences stayed true to the story while offering something new. “We’re taking familiar dishes and adding unexpected twists that feel authentic to this world,” Brian explained.
Harryhausen’s will offer a lively night-out atmosphere with dishes like ramen and sushi, while Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza will evoke the nostalgia of a college hangout. Each menu item is designed to create memorable moments for fans. As Evan noted, “The best part of our job is seeing it through a new lens and adding things that feel uniquely Disney.”
The land’s culinary offerings are rooted in storytelling, inviting guests to step into the world of Monstropolis. With two distinct dining experiences and a menu full of playful details, the new land promises to be a must-visit for fans in 2027.
