Disney Buries False Rumors About Avatar Ride and Abu Dhabi Project

Disney's latest earnings call surprised some fans who had been spreading false rumors about the company's plans. One rumor claimed that Disneyland would cancel its Avatar ride in favor of a new Zootopia attraction, but this was completely unfounded. The Avatar ride, which is based on the Pirates of the Caribbean system from Shanghai Disneyland, has been pushed back due to construction delays at Anaheim, but it remains a priority for the resort.

Another rumor claimed that Disney would abandon its plans for a theme park in Abu Dhabi due to delays caused by the war in the Middle East. However, this was simply a case of 'bad news sells' as some fans and commentators jumped on the delay as an excuse to declare the project dead. In reality, the delay is likely to be temporary, and Disney has a zero-capital agreement with Miral, meaning that they won't incur any financial losses.

Disney's report also included a schedule for its next five cruise ships, but this was not news either. The company's Wish-class ship for Japan will launch in 2029, followed by the first of DCL's new class of ships, with two more launching in 2029 and one in late 2030.
