Disney Buys Yamaha Headquarters for $115.3 Million in Orange County
The Walt Disney Company has expanded its footprint in Orange County with a major real estate acquisition. Disney’s Walt Disney Parks and Resorts U.S. unit purchased the former Yamaha Motor Corporation U.S.A. headquarters in Cypress for $115.3 million, according to the Orange County Register.
The 25-acre campus at 6555 Katella Avenue, which Yamaha occupied since 1979, includes three buildings totaling 279,000 square feet. The deal, priced at $413 per square foot or $4.6 million per acre, marks a significant investment by Disney. Yamaha will continue leasing the property until the end of 2028 before relocating to Kennesaw, Georgia.
Disney plans to use the site for “back-of-house operations,” which typically involve non-guest-facing roles. The property’s size and flexibility were key attractions, according to Paul Clark of Avison Young, who represented Yamaha in the transaction.
The sale follows a trend of major companies leaving Cypress. In 2019, Mitsubishi Motors North America relocated its headquarters to Tennessee after 31 years in the city.
