Disney Cast Members Get Magical Training at Disney University

Walt Disney World's largest employee base is comprised of over 80,000 cast members, all of whom attend a day-long orientation called 'Traditions' at Disney University. The program introduces new hires to the legacy they've inherited and teaches them about the five keys or principles: safety, courtesy, inclusion, show, and efficiency.

The training is hands-on, with learning labs offering cast members the opportunity to practice their skills in mock environments like hotel lobbies and guest rooms. Cast members also receive role-specific instruction, which helps them gain confidence before interacting with guests.

Ryan Pragano, a guest experiences manager at Walt Disney World, has been working for the company for over 13 years. He started part-time in attractions after high school and has continued taking classes at Disney University to advance his career.
