Disney Collaborates with Deaf Community for ASL Musical Reimaginings

The Walt Disney Animation Studios and Deaf West Theatre in Los Angeles have collaborated to reimagine three Disney musical numbers in American Sign Language (ASL). The team focused on conveying concepts and emotions rather than a word-for-word transcription, integrating ASL into each performance.

The three reimagined songs are from 'Frozen 2', 'Encanto', and 'Moana 2'. 'The Next Right Thing' is from 'Frozen 2', while 'We Don't Talk About Bruno' and 'Beyond' come from 'Encanto' and 'Moana 2', respectively.

The collaboration between Walt Disney Animation Studios and Deaf West Theatre aimed to showcase the power of ASL in conveying emotions and storytelling, rather than simply translating words.
