Disney Cracks Down on Four-Day Office Mandate for 200,000 Employees

Walt Disney Co. has reaffirmed its four-day in-office requirement, scrapping remote work exceptions that had been tolerated since March 1, 2023. The move affects nearly 200,000 hybrid employees across various divisions.

The policy was first introduced by former CEO Bob Iger, who argued that creativity was essential to Disney's identity and couldn't be replicated virtually. He claimed that in-person work would benefit creativity, culture, and career growth.

Under new CEO Josh D'Amaro, the company is now enforcing the four-day rule more strictly, with reports suggesting that failure to comply could lead to termination. This marks a reversal of pandemic-era flexibility seen at companies like BlackRock, Chipotle, and Snap.
