Disney Cruise Line Begins Construction on New Ship Disney Believe
Disney Cruise Line has taken a significant step forward with the keel-laying ceremony for its newest ship, the Disney Believe. The event was held at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany, marking the beginning of construction for the vessel, which is scheduled to enter service in late 2027. The Disney Believe is the latest addition to a series that includes the Disney Wish, completed in 2022.
The new ship will feature 1,250 cabins, accommodating a maximum of 5,500 guests, and will have a gross tonnage of 144,000. It will also utilize a hybrid LNG-electric propulsion system, combining five MAN engines, two ABB azimuthing pod thrusters, and four bow thrusters. The ship is designed to operate at a service speed of 22 knots and a maximum speed of 24 knots.
Passenger amenities will include Disney-themed restaurants, family and adults-only lounges, 10 pools, a waterpark, children's play areas, and a theatre. Approximately 90% of the staterooms will be outside cabins, with options for balcony staterooms, premium single cabins, and suites with concierge services.
