Disney has made it clear that they are not currently discussing buying Epic Games outright. The two companies have a partnership in place, where Disney invested $1.5 billion into Epic Games in 2024. This investment aimed to create a gaming universe of content that would connect Disney's IP with Epic's gaming prowess.

The partnership has already led to several collaborations, including a Mandalorian x Fortnite cross-over and an Arc Raiders-like extraction shooter. The cross-overs are the extent of Disney's involvement in these projects.

Disney president Dana Walden spoke about the impact of the Epic deal on the company's business, stating that it has boosted awareness for their entertainment and theme park businesses. Specifically, she mentioned a collaboration between Fortnite and Disneyland where players could link their identities with their Disney ID and Fortnite ID to receive digital rewards redeemable in Fortnite.

Walden confirmed that there will be more launches planned over the next two years, demonstrating the value of this partnership.
